July 2014

It's almost the end of July and I haven't blogged anything for more than a month since my last, so here's a little update on my life...
July is a month for a few of my firsts, such as it's the first time since I didn't have a job since my graduation and the first time I went overseas with a good friend. As my previous post mentioned, I am without a job and have some getting used to do (like real =P). Okay, jobs are pretty hard to find since I am still looking to find something that I would be interested in, and the cover letters are a pain in the arse because it's something the recruiters look at and which have to be tailored for each and every specific position I intend to apply, and worse of all something I don't really know how to write well. The biggest headache is that I don't have much clue as to what positions are out there, other than the common ones I hear, and I have a hunch that the ones I am interested in are those hidden from common view. Maybe the local community should really adopt the "Parents' Career day" to expose the kids here to what kinds of career opportunities are out there, and let them work towards what they like. Instead of working to something children think they like, only to find that there is no such position available. Gonna save so much trouble for everyone! Yeah, that's my two cents worth.
Well, forget about the bad stuff. Now for some fun stuff: I went overseas with perv, to her home country (not hometown), and did some things I never expected to do - We hiked Mt R. Gosh, it still sounds so surreal to me, with all those negligible pre-hiking trainings, I still can't believe I managed to reach the place I reached. Unbelievable. Perv went up much higher, which is even more amazing and you just gotta be in awe of her determination. Haha but still, I know better to push my limits and I wanted to make sure I could make it down in working condition ;) and we both did.
Yep, thats the mountain we hiked (behind us), lets all take some time to accept how tall the mountain is *feels really really proud*. Haha okay enuf about mountains, lets talk about seas! Yep, we went snorkelling, with the only prior snorkelling experience I have was the one from adventure cove rainbow reef. I really liked rainbow reef, because the water was clear, cooling, and I can swim with the fishes that are well-cared for, which is kinda cool. This time round, I got to snorkel in nature. I would say the guide experience wasn't good, but the few minutes I got to spend snorkelling around in the water and seeing the turtle, that was great. If I return, I would definitely drop the guide and do a free & easy snorkel by renting from the island shops or getting my own mask.
Blue skies, blue seas. The views were one awesome one after another. On island, it felt more like a caucasian country than an asian one, but I heard that's what it feels like most of the time there too, so we didn't really missed out much in terms of island fun. I also really liked the last few days when I got to try out some local dishes and did a few shopping at the super interesting 7-11 kind of stores that sells so many things (kinda like the popular stores here).
And that, make up most of my July this year.
