phone: lost & found.

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Yesterday, I went for a run in a super loong time, and it felt good. I didn't tire as easily like in the past which is quite surprising. I was also prepared for legs to be aching badly today but it didn't happen, and so I thought today was gonna be a good day....until this happened -.- There I was, taking the shuttle bus to my destination, and still thinking of whether or not to have breakfast before heading to my office when it happened. I alighted from the bus found my phone neither in my jacket pockets, nor in my pants pocket! It wasn't in my bag pocket either *lost*. Then I turned and I saw the bus driving away. ". . ." were the only thoughts I could think of at that moment because I tried seeing the but plate number but it was already too far gone. *PANIC ATTACK STARTS HERE* I sorta walk-jogged to my office and immediately dialed my number. I was thinking luckily my phone is password protected because the chances of it being not-returned will be reduced as the picker might give up hacking the phone and stuff. (Everyone rmb to password lock your phone ah!) The labtec gave me a number to call to report lost & found and when I called it, the speaker says she's under maintenance, and the lost  & found personnel can only be contacted after 830am by calling the same number. wts. I'm trying to get back my phone asap to avoid all the trouble of tracing and they're saying "sorry we can't help you until working hours". So things don't get lost on non-working hours? Why do school starts at 8am then? -.- Okay back to the part where I password-protected my phone, I recalled that I could answer calls w/o needing to unlock my phone. So I starting my call-my-own-number-spamming system using the office phone.Thank goodness someone picked up ah! I quickly contacted her and went to find her to get back my phone (thank you stranger!). Phew! It was a really bad experience. I rmbed I lost my phone once during the undergrad days on a public bus, and luckily it was also a student who picked it up & from the same school also, making the collection easier. Heng ah. Okay so in short, it's always good to: password-lock phone, put phone at places where it won't drop (like tight pockets where you can feel the presence of the phone), and if worse comes to worse, lose the phone only in school-related places cos you're more likely to get it back in that case. In some lost cases, it's actually quite interesting because the loser turned the event around to target the steal-er like in this case, a guy stole a tourist's phone and began taking images with it (read the link, it's a 'live' blog and it's really interesting). At the age of internet and connectivity, everything online or photographerble is no longer a secret. What's more, there's auto-sync function and some cloud in the air which has the capacity to store so much information. Takeaway point here, is return what you found. We don't lose anything, we'll help someone and better still we'll have good karma ;)

Alright, enuf of that. Here's one interesting article I read on yahoo news (here's the way I read it) :

Your brain is Team Coco(a) Click here to go to article
Harvard Medical School researchers published a study this week that suggests your brain may crave chocolate as much as your mouth does, especially as you get older.
Seniors that drank two cups of hot cocoa a day not only improved their times on memory tests, they saw an increase in blood flow to the brains of some of the participants who'd had decreased flow to start. Decreased blood flow is one of the hallmarks of a variety of cognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer's; reversing it can only mean good things for your grey matter.
Unfortunately the exact link between brain health and chocolate needs a lot more study before we'll get the green light from our doctors to go on a hot cocoa binge. Until then, cocoa flavanols — the primary suspect in chocolate's brain boosting ability — have already been demonstrated to help control blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health.
That'll have to satisfy our cravings for justification for now.

-end of post-

Awesome! I guess it's time to schedule chocolate drinking into my daily routine...okay then, I'll end this post with a chocolatey statement "My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocloate cake. I feel better already." - Dave Barry

*scribble scribble* must go back finish tub of chocolate ice cream, sea shell chocolates, chocolate nuts...*scribble scribble*
